Preventative Routine Care

Routine health exams, vaccinations, parasite exams, Geriatric care, proper nutrition, and dental care are essential tools for us to maintain your pets proper health. Our Veterinarians and staff are prepared to help you provide the best care possible for your animal companions.

Diagnostic Testing
Our full service laboratory allows us to run necessary tests on your pets health condition so that we can quickly respond to your petís urgent needs, pre-surgical tests, and routine check -up work. These tests may include:

 Laboratory diagnostics: Blood analysis, urinalysis, fecal exams, cytology, biopsies and cultures.
 X-rays: Our radiology department uses high quality, fast-acting film which limits the amount of x-ray exposure for your pet while providing clear results.
With our partnership with Idexx Laboratories, we are able to offer high quality, fast turnaround diagnostic tests with direct access to advice from clinical pathologists and other specialists.

To maintain a sterile environment for all of our surgeries, we have a dedicated surgical suite. We use the latest equipment, supplies and monitoring systems including ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography (CO2), blood pressure, circulating warm water blanket. We use the safest known anesthetic such as Isoflurane, and Sevoflurane. Our patients are placed on IV fluids and monitored closely by a Licensed Veterinary Technician who is trained in anesthesia and pain management. This technician will follow your pet through the entire surgery and recovery, ensuring compassionate comfort.

Brushing your dog or cat's teeth is the easiest way to prevent oral infections, tooth loss, bad breath, or even major medical problems associated with dental disease. However, sometimes your pet may need to undergo a complete dentistry treatment. Our state of the art dental department provides necessary prophylactic and periodontal treatments for dental disease. We use ultrasonic scaling,  fluoride treatments and polishing;
similar to human dentists.

For your convenience, our hospital can accommodate your petís prescriptions while you wait with our fully stocked pharmacy.

A Network of veterinary specialists
The Doctors at The Howell Veterinary Care Center work closely with Board Certified Veterinary Specialists, often consulting and referring cases requiring more specialized care or diagnostics. These include: Dermatologists, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, internists, oncologists, radiologist, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, a behavior consultant, physical therapy services as well as MRI and CT Scan services. These relationships allow our doctors to more effectively diagnose and treat our patients, as well as allowing us to stay abreast of the most current
techniques and treatments.
