Dr. Brian G. Howell is The Howell Veterinary Care Center's veterinarian
and Medical Director.
He was born in Detroit and raised in East Detroit. He currently has a home in
Casco Township. He has three sons; Derek works at the Richmond Community
Schools, Philip attends Central Michigan University and Mark attends
Michigan State University.
Dr. Howell chose the
veterinary field because he has always loved animals and enjoyed science
class in high school. He went to work at a veterinary clinic and enjoyed
it so much that he decided to pursue the schooling he needed to become a
He attended Wayne State
University, transferring to Michigan State University and earning a
Bachelors degree in veterinary science in 1980, he then continued on
earning a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree in 1984.
Dr Howell's goal for the future at Howell Veterinary Care Center is to
continue to provide exceptional care for his patients and exceptional
Dr. Howell and his sons like to read, go to the movies, golf and
appreciate the outdoors.
Dr. Coleman was born and spent his formative years in southwest
Pennsylvania. His family moved often and he lived in Ohio for several
years and then finally came to Michigan where he started high school in
He had an interest in
the biological sciences but did not consider himself very good with
mathematics. Though his physician granduncle urged him to consider medical
school even as a child, he really did not have an interest in it. Fate
intervened, as Dr. Coleman secured a cleaning/kennel position when in
high school. It was then he decided he wanted to become a veterinarian.
During this time he learned to play bagpipes and played in a bagpipe band
performing in parades, weddings, funerals as well as for self enjoyment.
Dr. Coleman attended
Michigan State University graduating with a BS degree in medical
technology. In 1977 he completed his medical studies and
graduated with a DVM degree.
He has been in general practice in Oakland County for over 30 years which
included a year in emergency medicine. He has a black belt in Ken Po
karate and enjoys radio controlled model building. He has tracked his
family tree in this country to pre revolutionary days.
He is a member of Lake
Orion Lodge #46 F & AM and is also a 32nd degree mason and a member of the
Scottish Rite. He is also a member of the
American Veterinary Medical
His goals are to assist and contribute to keeping the Howell Veterinary
Care Center at the leading edge of quality veterinary medicine and client
DeAnn is a receptionist/office manager at The Howell Veterinary Care Center.
She was born in Detroit, raised in Richmond and now lives in China
Township along with her high school sweetheart and now husband Niles.
Together they have two wonderful kids, Nicole and Logan.
In her spare time she enjoys being with her family camping and biking. Her
family is involved in St. Clair County 4-H Youth programs. Both her and
her husband are 4 H Leaders and their children are Teen Leaders. They love
teaching the youth and parents all about Rabbit, Cavy and Poultry. Their family raise
and compete in The American Rabbit Breeders Association with Jersey Wooly
and Mini Rex rabbits, their rabbitry is called "Furry Treasures".
DeAnn has 3 sweet dogs, "Oliver" and "Isabella" the 2 Chihuahua's, and "Dasher" a Toy Poodle. Along with the
rabbits, she also raises bantam chickens, Turkey's and Pekin Ducks to prove her love of animals and caring for them.
Sarah is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at The Howell Veterinary Care
She was raised in New
Baltimore and currently resides in East China with her husband Dave and
their beautiful daughter Ella.
In her spare time she likes to read and spend as much time as possible
with her family & friends.
She attended Macomb Community College and earned an Associates degree of
Applied Science. Sarah has chosen a career in the veterinary field because
of her love for animals and the enjoyment of being able to help them.
Sarah's goals for the future at Howell Veterinary Care Center are to help
the Care Center become successful while helping many animals along the
Sarah has a wonderful cat named "Moe" who entertains the
whole family with his mischievous ways. Sarah and her family got a
new addition in May 2014. They rescued "Gizmo" a 1 1/2 year old
Lhasa Apso from the SNAP animal shelter. He fit nicely into the
family and is definitely Ella's buddy!
Carolyn is a
Licensed Veterinary Technician at the Howell Veterinary Care Center.
She was raised in St.Clair and currently resides in Port Huron.
In her spare time she
likes to spend time with her family and friends, nap and watch movies.
Carolyn attended Baker
College of Port Huron and has an Associates Degree of Applied Science in
Veterinary Technology. Carolyn chose this career because she was
raised in a family of animal lovers and wants to help as many animals as

at HVCC is to continue to learn and grow as a LVT and provide
compassionate care for clients and pets.
Carolyn has two crazy
cats named "Kitty" and "Kitty" who impress the family with their hunting
skills. She also has adopted a fabulous dog named Darby <3.
Amanda is our veterinary assistant at the Howell Veterinary Care Center.
She was born and
raised in Richmond.
She enjoys watching movies and being
with friends and family.
She is currently attending Macomb Community College and hoping to attend
Wayne State University within the next year.
She has 1 cat named Calvin who is a Siamese mix that she rescued at 4
weeks old. He is now 2 years old and is so spoiled:)
Logan is our Veterinary
Support team member. He was born and raised in St. Clair.
He enjoys camping,
biking and spending time
with his family.
He raised chickens,
turkeys and rabbits in 4H. He has 1 cat naked Loki that he rescued from a
" THERE IS NOTHING SO HEALING TO ONESELF AS
TO HEAL ANOTHER."
