Graduating in 1998 from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, I have enjoyed providing wellness and preventative care for dogs and cats through all life stages. Whether it's the exuberance of a young puppy or kitten or the quiet happiness in a senior pet's eyes, I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of their journey.

Currently, my wonderful husband Mitch and I share our lives with 3 housecats (Lily, Speckle, and PeeWee), our german shorthaired pointer (Gus), 3 barn cats (Panda Bear, Betty Boop, and Thelma Lou), and 3 horses (Toby, Aces, and Jackie). My main hobby is showing horses and my non work hours are spent dedicated to that endeavor. In my "free time" I enjoy reading, hunting, and fishing.

Pets have been my passion for over 30 years. After a short time in college studying interior design, I took a part time job as a vet receptionist and within a few months, I switched careers and have never looked back! As I grew within the veterinary industry, my passion for mentorship and teaching led me to leadership roles. Working with team members and being part of their growth path is rewarding and inspiring! Currently, I am the Site Leader at both Animal Hospital of Chesterfield / Tree Lodge Pet Resort and Veterinary Care Center of Richmond.

Outside of the veterinary industry I have had a very active hobby. I was introduced to the breed of Border Collies in the late 80’s. I got my first Border Collie in 1993 and began dog training and attending competitions. I welcomed many of BCs into my home and have competed with my pets in obedience, agility and flyball. At the pinnacle of my dog training career, I was world champion multiple times. Now a days, I train my Border Collies to be great pets, therapy dogs and to provide service dog assistance. While I have loved training my own dogs, I have equally enjoyed teaching families how to positively raise their puppies to be kind and confident family pets for over 25 years.

My name is Dana, I am the veterinary assistant lead at our clinic. I have been with our company for almost 4 years, and I have been in the field for 10 years total! I love everything about veterinary medicine, advocating for animals that don’t have voices is my absolute favorite. Our feline patients are my passion, I have seven cats of my own at home and one very happy dog that loves her kitty friends. When I am not working, I can mostly be found at home spending time with my son and taking care of our animal pack. I look forward to seeing you and your pet at our clinic!

I started my career in veterinary medicine in 2017 as a receptionist and quickly moved into a veterinary assistant role. As a receptionist I found my love for veterinary medicine. I love educating clients on how to better care for their fur babies and building a relationship with not only my patient but their family as well. Outside of work my husband and I have 3 children, 15 year old Brionna, 12 year old Braylin and 8 year old Bryce. We have 2 dogs (Taz and Bugsy) and 3 cats (Marvin, Donald and Sylvester). I also love to read, color in an adult coloring book and learn as much as I can about animals. We love to be together as a family and I cherish every moment. I am very excited about our new change to, Veterinary Care Center of Richmond and look forward to serving the community in which I live.

After working in human medicine for 4 years, it was time for a change. I wanted to follow my passion, and still stay within the medical field, but to pursue veterinary medicine instead. Having 3 dogs, (Jazz, Tater Tot, and Bean) and two cats, (Stink, and Kibby), I truly wanted to give back to the community and animal companions. My team at the Veterinary Care Center of Richmond is outstanding, they are like my second family, and the feeling I get greeting, and taking care of not only our clients, but the patients as well is truly rewarding. Outside of helping animals, I really enjoy baking, so much so, that it has become a small business!
